The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID)
The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), based in Vienna - Austria, is a multilateral development finance institution which seeks to promote cooperation between its member states and developing countries as an expression of the South-South solidarity. It does this mainly by providing financial resources to assist the latter group of countries in their economic and social advancement.
By the end of June 2007, the level of cumulative development assistance extended by OFID stood approximately at US$ 9.0 billion. The development assistance involves financial support to the public and private sector operations, grants, balance of payment support loans, as well as, HIPC initiative debt relief delivery. In pursuit of its organizational strengthening program, OFID has openings and now seeks to fill the following vacancies in the management level :
Director, Information Department - (Ref.: VA803/2007)
The incumbent of this position is directly responsible to the Director General. He/she will be overseeing OFID’s information dissemination programs to governments and all other development partners, special interest groups, the media, and the general public. He/she will serve as the focal point for delivering OFID’s information outputs in various ways, including periodic public information campaigns, He/she would also be expected to develop information management strategies that will raise OFID’s profile substantially, both in the immediate and longer terms.
General Counsel - (Ref.: VA404/2007)
The incumbent of this position is also responsible to the Director General. He/she provides and advises on legal and other related important matters and ongoing activities of OFID to improve its efficiency and promote its growth. He/she plans the annual work program of the legal department, identifies the resources required, proposes priorities within the general framework of OFID’s program of work and also establishes the services required from his/her department.
Controller - (Ref.: VA108/2007)
Under the supervision of Assistant Director General (ADG) Financial Operations Department, the incumbent manages a small team tasked with the responsibilities for the accounting and disbursement activities of OFID, He/she discusses desired policies and objectives with the ADG but works independently and reporting significant issues or problem on his/her own initiatives.
